IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the current nature of spam on the internet, at busy times during the day some Outlook connections will receive "time out" errors. This can be easily circumvented.
1. Again select "Tools/Accounts" from menu bar.
2. Highlight the account you just created. (mail.yourdomain.com)

3. Click "Properties".
4. Select the advanced tab.

5. Finally, adjust the "Server Timouts" slider to LONG (5 minutes)
Apply, and close out back to Outlook.

THE FINE PRINT: Some ISPs will not allow mail sending from your own domain. If you are have trouble sending mail, it may be necessary to use your ISP's mail server for sending (SMTP). This is in the advanced section and you would configure it according to their specs. Contact your ISP for more information.
